SUPPLY CHAIN TRANSPARENCY

Utilising a range of tools such as supply chain mapping, internal codes of conduct, international standards and audits helps us understand where and how are garments are made. We can then use that information to empower our global partners to make more sustainable choices. For us it is critical that all of our global family are as committed to sustainability as we are. We can then use that information to empower our global partners to make more sustainable choices. For us it is critical that all of our global family are as committed to sustainability as we are.

SOCIAL ADVOCACY

We believe in global citizenship and as such we have a global family. We believe that people can live better lives if they have access to the global market place and we are proud to support Social Advocacy/ Artisan initiatives.

Our pledge is to have at least one social advocacy initiative per collection by 2025. Not only are we supporting marginalised people but we are honouring the tradition of Indian handmade textiles, which is at the heart of who we are.

CIRCULAR FASHION

Our customers have always embraced the reuse and upcycling of garments and we are committed to helping our customers extend the life-cycle of their Nesavaali pieces. However, reselling, upcycling and the renting economy is only a very small part of the circularity puzzle. We are only at the beginning of our circularity efforts but we believe all inputs and outputs related to the production of our garments. We suggest customer to return their Nesavaali piece when they decide not to use it any more to upscale to a newer product or simply return them to get a voucher for their next shopping, while we get busy and recycling the piece without sending them to landfill.

FOOTPRINT

We are committed to knowing and minimising the environmental footprints of our garments. Water, waste and energy are on the radar and we plan to benchmark ourselves with the leaders in the textile industry. Ultimately, we hope to be part of a broader movement where the true cost of a garment will be available to consumers.

We are working with experts to help establish and finalise both domestic and international methodologies.

SUSTIANABLE FIBRES & MATERIALS

We are committed to ensuring that our garments are made from the most sustainable fibres we can source. Our design and production team are continually working with material specialists to understand the sustainability implications and opportunities for each fibre. Our recent collaboration with expert recycling mills in India has helped us source 100% recycled fabrics for us and for our customer products, both in knits & wovens.

DYES & PRINTING

Our aim is to ensure our print and dye houses use the most environmentally and ethically responsible products with certification focusing on responsible water, chemical and energy footprints.

ZERO WASTAGE

Let's be honest, no one is 100% zero waste, but we get very close. Our zero-waste goal insures that all scrap fabric gets turned into something new. From headbands and very functional fashion accessory, jewellery made by for women in the iVillage community.

iVillage is our social enterprise partner in India. For the love of social service and to create employment opportunities for rural women, just so they can become financially independent. It brings us pure joy as we were able to offer £25,000 plus worth of orders continuously. Our partnerships together have strengthened us back to back, as design intervention becomes a focus for these women while working on Nesavaali fashion accessories from the disregarded fabrics. We aim to place more orders and scale up to increase the rural women encouraging them to work & have their financial freedom.

We also employ a zero-waste pattern cutting technique, which means that our garments are designed to utilise the fabric to the maximum and minimise any waste at the point of cutting. Our designs are adaptive and can be worn in many ways and mixed matched with their regular wardrobe, so each piece can adapt to various styling & occasion and be cherished longer.

REDUCE + RECYCLE + REPURPOSE

Revolutionary Recycled

We have partnered with experts in the field to present green, sustainable alternative to virgin polyester, M-rec that is created from recycled plastic. Mrec uses existing plastic and turns it into a versatile, high-quality fabric that uses limited resources and reduces pollution.

Our Recycled Range In the Making Timeline

The process was elaborate, we had a lot of trial & error especially to achieving the hand feel of the fabric so the look remained like any virgin fabrics, this was exciting and happy to share a small gist of our progress and in the making.

Currently we are in the progress of fabric development for spring summer 2023 for our buyer brands. This range is not only 360 degrees sustainable, but very elegant waiting to disrupt the women occasion wear market and make a huge impact to people & the environment.

Let's Collaborate Together...

Sustainability is far from simple. In fact, the bulk of the challenges we face are very complex, especially when it comes to the textile industry supply chain. To ensure we take the most sustainable path we have chosen to collaborate with selected organisations and initiatives. Working with partners who are experts in their field, gives access to resources we wouldn’t otherwise have, and allows us to collaborate as a broader sector to learn, strategise and implement change – it’s very much a case of ‘together we can move mountains’.

Pre - Order & Get Ready Ahead..

At Nesavaali, we are firm believers in merging style with #sustainability and strong advocates of practising conscious shopping - which is why we're excited at the prospect of pre-order clothing and the positive effects this business model has on our planet.

PEOPLE AT HEART+ PEOPLE IN MIND

What differentiates us from other fast fashion brands is our effort to achieve sustainability indicated by our zero inventory mission and pre-order system. To be honest, we're closer to our goal of zero waste (though that's a future we'd like to work towards) currently but we definitely have sustainability in mind as we make our products. By normalizing pre-order models we can help the fashion industry stay trendy while not killing the planet. Better yet, our pre-order model relies on you! We involve you in deciding what to produce — and how much of it — but this also means we only keep a small number of every style in stock, to ensure we don’t have pieces that go to waste. We do care about the environment and are doing everything possible to make this planet a better place.
